LOVE AND JUSTICE: A Compelling True Story Of Triumph Over Tragedy Kindle Edition
"Diana's story is one of triumph." Daily Mail
As featured in The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror; ITV News, ITV This Morning with Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield; BBC Radio 2's The Jeremy Vine Show; BBC Radio 5 Live, Ireland's 'Late Late Show' Ryan Tubridy Show & more.
A few days after her accident, as she lay in hospital, traumatized and heavily sedated, Diana learnt via a newspaper article that the railway’s Transport Police were to interview her with a view to prosecution. She had boarded a moving train, they said, and trespassed onto their railway line. Diana's fight for justice took 5 years and was, she declares with no hesitation, a more harrowing experience than having both of her legs ‘stolen’ from her. The issues surrounding sexuality and disability are explored here with stark, jaw-dropping honesty... What man would ever love her now?
Diana's complicated love life will keep you turning the pages as if you were reading the most gripping pot-boiler romance.
The horror of the accident itself and the re-lived rawness of unimaginable pain will break your heart...
The High Court dramas with the shocking, sexist, behaviour of the rail company and the British 'justice' system will boil your blood with rage....
The preoccupations of a beautiful 29 year-old-girl, swaying frequently to love, will melt your soul...
All told with tremendous humour, charm and heart. For Diana loves to tell stories. Especially true ones.
"Proves that women of courage are not born, but made so by their own blood, sweat and tears." Rosie Jones, The National Trust's First Writer in Residence
"This is a story of how indomitable the human spirit can be. There is much that disabled people will recognise.." Dame Anne Begg, MP for Aberdeen South 1997-2015
"Full of honesty and charm." BookBub
“A compelling story of how humour, friendship, grace and sheer grit can triumph over unthinkable catastrophe. This unflinching memoir is proof that what does not kill us makes us strong.” Liz Jensen, author of The Ninth Life of Louis Drax
"Diana’s disability story is balanced with humour, joie-de-vivre and an unquenchable determination to live life to the full, on her terms, legs or no legs." Susie Kelly, Author
"I only read this book because of its relevance to my occupation, I approached it with a hardened attitude. I joined the railway soon after Diana's accident in the era of slam-door trains... The novel-like style is a brilliant, powerful, device; your mind is lulled into novel mode, then you will be ambushed with a sentence of heartbreaking, lacerating poignancy. It will drain you, ,make you weep make you laugh.. reminding you powerfully about the fragility of life & limb." Mr D, A Train Driver
"Powerful and witty. It had me at the first line." Tricia Walker, author of Benedict's Brother
"This book was more of a page-turner than any novel I've read in a long time." Louise Voss, Author
A witty, heartbreaking, painfully funny but heartbreakingly sad story of triumph, hope and strength against all odds. Try it now!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 March 2016This book hits you, right at the start. Such a shock, with hardly any preamble, the accident has happened and there's no going back. Wow! Such an immensely wonderful memoir. Not just about her accident and certainly not all tragic. There was never a let-up in the pace, it was all completely enthralling. What an amazing lady and a totally amazing book. In her memoir, Diana Morgan-Hill tells of her terrible accident; losing her balance getting on a train which started to move unexpectedly and as a result she lost both of her legs. Just days after this nightmare British Rail decide to prosecute her! They didn’t contact her personally to tell her this unbelievable news-they announced it through the media-in a newspaper. Diana was a seasoned traveller, her job in media/TV necessitating a fair amount of travel to foreign climes. This was all so fast moving, quick to read, compelling. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t an all doom and gloom memoir: I actually chuckled in a few places-one was where she was a bit mixed up with the gas and air pain relief! The book isn’t just concerned with her tragic accident-it’s also about her family life, relationships and her career. There is a bit of a love story running alongside. The man of her dreams………..but he’s taken. Then there’s a long-term partner where things have gone a bit sour but they’re tied into a mortgage together. Who will stick around and help her through her recovery? You’ll have to read it to find out! A fight to get to health coupled with a legal fight. Gripping reading. This is such a great book and she tells her story so well. Diana spent many months in hospital, it was a long and painful road. An amazing and inspirational memoir which I couldn’t put down, I just had to see what happened next. I loved the musical touch to this: each chapter title was the title of a song/piece of music and the titles were relevant to what she was talking about in the chapters eg. Born to Run, Fragile, Nessun Dorma, Desperado. I love this sort of tie-in! This was such a great book! A fantastic portrayal of the author’s life before the accident and after it, the lasting effects, how people treated her. An excellent memoir about a very brave lady.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2015Love and Justice is a compelling intimate read that had me sweeping through my kindle at the rate of knots. I couldn't put it down. Diana's tough and uncompromising stand (and boy! , does she stand tall, magnificent and beautiful in her false legs to show us all that the human spirit can win through an y horror!). Her writer's voice immediately drops the reader into her glamorous media life, her loves and laughs until the horrific shock of the loss of her legs under a train. From then on the book is a rollercoaster of emotions which will have you alternately crying and laughing.. With uncompromising honesty Diana reveals how it feels to be suddenly and literally cut down as a lovely young woman when she had everything to hope for. Her battle to regain her self-worth as a woman - her femininity and sexuality- is both moving, funny and eventually triumphant.( I am looking forward to any romantic novel Diana will write, as it will surely be a hilarious romp.) The pain and loneliness of coming to terms with her 'new' self makes this both a harrowing and inspiring read. The core of Love and Justice recounts Diana's battle with the corporate inhumanity of British Rail which begins with its faceless and cowardly attempt to prosecute her for boarding a moving train (it was stationary.) British Rail's incompetency, lies, and sadist persecution of Diana at a time when privatisation was on the political cards, is a perfect example of how a vulnerable, innocent human life is seen as worthless when money and corporate esteem are in question. The settlement was derisory and Diana makes the valid point that a footballer at the time received more for being insulted by the media. Love and Justice dramatically highlights how corporate values are not about compassion or the value of a human life, but about saving face and money at the expense of the victim. However, Diana is not a victim as her book clearly shows. She has triumphantly overcome what would have probably destroyed most people. This book is a brave and inspiring example to us all of how the human spirit can rise above the most tragic and horrific of events. Everyone should read it, particularly those BR employees and legal staff responsible for the hounding of Diana. There are many lessons to be learnt from this beautifully written, unputdownable book. For all of us.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 January 2018Extremely harrowing, but a gripping and well written story of tragedy. You feel for the author as she agonisingly recalls a dreadful accident that almost cost her her life. What makes it so disturbing is how British Rail chose to threaten legal action for trespass on the railway just days after the accident in an attempt to cover up the truth. The legal wrangling that followed serves to highlight how money takes precedence over the value of a human life. It was something of a miracle that the 29 year old victim survived, albeit with first class medical and surgical diligence. British Rail felt it more prudent to contest the victim’s claims against them, spending more than £1m on legal fees to reduce the liability payout they were forced to make. There is no logic in this behaviour ... one million pounds in legal fees that went to greedy lawyers when the victim of this tragic event received only £600,000 for a life left in tatters as a result of negligence. It is a most moving story that needed told if only to highlight the insensitivity of bullying corporations and the vulture lawyers that work for them. It is high time the justice system was changed to make it fair to all victims. It cannot be right in this day and age, that someone that has had their life ruined and suffered immense pain can be worth far less.than someone that claims to be slandered by a pointed remark. Yet, this is the reality. A well-known sports personality, or a celebrity can expect to be awarded upwards of £750,000 for being slandered; while this victim of corporate negligence eventually, years after he accident, was awarded just £600,000. There is something very morally wrong with our society when the law allows this to happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars My hero,
This book was very enlightening. Her attitude helped me with my mental attitude. I had a stroke and was left with a difficult foot, and after reading her story, mine is peanuts. Good for my morale totally. Very good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love & Justice
Wow this book was so gripping. It brought up so many emotions along the journey. BR should be ashamed of themselves as should the lawyers from both sides be appalled by their behaviour and invasion. Good on Diana for her tenacity and humour to survive such an horrific event and still live life to the fullest. Cheers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible story of courage and perseverance!
This story was amazing!! Well written, poignant, completely heart breaking at times, but through it all Diana's humor and strength shine through. What an amazing woman for all she has gone through and how hard she was willing to fight. Shame on the BR for raking her over the coals and trying to make her the bad guy after everything she had to go through. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey with us. It definitely makes me want to handle the small piddly challenges I face with more grace following her example. Great read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing story
I chose this rating because the story told was so detailed in every way, very colourful in it's description and obviously a very true story. Dianna is a very talented lady.

Hard to follow sometimes when she changes from after to before the accident but otherwise a moving read.
